Terms of Sale and License
These terms cover buying and using Plugindex. Buying a license, or installing the app, means you accept them.
1. The license you get
Plugindex is licensed, not sold. A license is personal to you and covers the number of computers you bought it for: one, two, or the size of your pack. You may deactivate a computer and activate another you own whenever you like. You may not resell, rent, sublicense, or share your license key, and you may not redistribute the application.
A license is a one-time purchase. The version you buy, and every version released in the twelve months after your purchase, is yours permanently and will keep working. A version released after that period is an optional upgrade, at half the current price of the same license. You may skip any upgrade, and skipping one never stops a version you already have from working.
Plugindex also runs without a license. For the first 14 days you get everything. After that it runs as Free: your library stays indexed and searchable, loading into a DAW is limited to 50 a week, and key mappings are limited to three keys. Activating a license lifts both limits.
2. What you may not do
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except where that restriction is unenforceable under your local law.
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or licensing notice.
- Circumvent the licensing mechanism, or use a license key you did not purchase.
- Extract, copy, or redistribute the catalog, categorization data, or stock device artwork that ships with the app, by hand or by automated means, or use them to build another product or dataset or to train a machine learning model.
3. Refunds
If Plugindex doesn't work for you, email support@plugindex.app within 14 days of purchase and we will refund you in full. You do not have to give a reason. If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, this sits alongside your statutory cancellation rights and does not replace them. When a refund is issued, the license it paid for ends and its key stops working.
4. Third-party software
Plugindex works alongside digital audio workstations and audio plugins made by other companies. We have no relationship with those companies, and their names and logos appear in the app and on this site only to identify the software Plugindex is compatible with.
Compatibility depends on software we do not control. A host or plugin update may change behavior Plugindex relies on, and while we will address such breakage as quickly as we reasonably can, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted compatibility with any particular version of any third-party product.
Plugindex loads a plugin by operating your DAW on your computer for you: through the DAW's own keys, menus and controls, through the ways it gives other software to control it, through scripts Plugindex installs where the DAW looks for them, and by opening files in it. Your DAW and your plugins come with their makers' own terms, and following those is up to you.
5. Your own content
Plugindex indexes software already installed on your computer and creates artwork locally from it. You are responsible for holding valid licenses for the plugins you use it with. Nothing in these terms grants you any right to third-party software.
The index of your own plugins, the artwork the app captures from them, and your mappings and decks are yours to keep.
When you choose to send us a list of plugins from the app, it carries facts about software: names, makers, formats, the DAWs the plugins were found in, what each plugin declares about itself, how Plugindex filed it and how you filed it. You let us use those facts, without credit to you, to build and correct the knowledge base that ships in the app and appears on plugindex.app. The privacy policy says what a list holds and how long we keep it.
6. Warranties
Plugindex is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing here excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
7. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to Plugindex is limited to the amount you paid for your license in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost work, lost recordings, or lost profits. Back up your projects; that is good practice regardless of this clause.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms for future purchases. The terms that apply to you are the ones published when you bought your license.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, USA, and the courts of Tennessee have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in.
